Child Abuse Victims Have Leather-Clad Guardians

The shuddering roar of a Harley motorcycle is an intimidating thing. To most people it signifies the approach of bikers -- long-haired and tattooed, leather-clad, and tough. But when children who have been the victims of abuse hear the approaching roar of a group called the Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), they know they've got back-up.  BACA, an international non-profit that uses a biker's tough image to make child abuse victims feel more secure, has a motto that says it all: 'No child deserves to live in fear.'

Even kids know that nobody messes with bikers. Bikers look big, and strong, and mean, both in real life and in how they are portrayed on TV.  They are  sons of anarchy, not afraid of anything. And they take care of their own. A child who has been abused by someone bigger and stronger knows too well what it feels like to be small and vulnerable. BACA shifts that balance by putting even bigger and stronger people - and more of them - on the child's side.

Tears are rolling down my cheeks...how wonderful are these people? Angels who ride bikes - AWESOME!!!

Never judge people by their appearances!

  3. Angel,
I stopped by to thank you for your visits and kind words!!

    This is a great post!!

We have several Biker groups in our area that rally for Veterans and each time a local member of the military that was killed in action comes home to be buried, the Biker groups meet the casket at the air port and ascort it to the Funeral Home and then on the day of burial, to the cemetery. It is really something to see.....

You deinifitely can not judge a book by it's cover!!

    Hugs,
    Deb

  5. Us bikers may 'look' tough but we are some of the most compassionate people I know. The most memorable charity run we participated in was to commemorate the memory of 9/11 one year later. Thank you for sharing this inspiring story!

    Keep the shiny side up!
